As soon as Halma begin to elicit sonorous vibrations from their instruments, images start appearing: landscapes devoid of humans, deserts of ice or sand, or maybe a night-time ocean scene, all unfathomable and vast. Yet the Hamburg quartet are very concise in the choice of their means.

The four members of Halma are on an equal footing with each other; together they create beautiful phrases on long trajectories, ever managing to circumnavigate the domain of pop. Bass and baritone guitars form the core structure, which is cautiously complemented by lap steel, electronic sounds and field recordings.
